ROADS

Projects

Projects are developed from the prioritized list of transportation needs identified in the planning stage and approved by Council. Once funding is identified, projects are scheduled for design and construction. Below are projects currently under way.

Projects

Clarendon Avenue and Weldon Avenue
The existing gravel roads located east of Center Street serve agriculture and low density residential. The roads will be improved to a paved rural local with one lane in each direction. The project includes new right of way acquisition, grading, drainage, water line, and paving. Benefits include improved roadway alignment, access, dust control and enhanced safety. McDonald Subdivision and Palm Lane New Construction
The existing gravel road serves agriculture and a low density residential subdivision. The road will be improved to a paved rural local with one lane in each direction. The project includes new right of way acquisition, grading, drainage, water line, and paving. Benefits include improved roadway alignment, access, dust control and enhanced safety. Virginia Avenue and Washington Subdivision in Lehi

Salt River Fields Loop Road Widening (Hummingbird Lane)
The southern portion of the Salt River Fields loop road will be widened to an urban major collector with one lane in each direction and a center two-way left turn lane. Project is under construction. Contact Deb Hassinan with Public Works.

Talking Stick District Overlay
Overlay on Talking Stick Way, Dobson Road, and Via de Ventura located east of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway. Project is in the design phase. Construction anticipated spring 2019. Contact Rick McFarlin with Public Works.

Projects

Pima Road (Chaparral to Krail)
Pima Road serves as the boundary between the Community and the City of Scottsdale. The project is to widen the road to an urban minor arterial with two lanes in each direction and a raised landscaped median. The project is part of MAG’s ALCP and has multiple funding partners. Projects

Gilbert Road Bridge
Project to construct new all-weather Salt River bridge crossing with two lanes in each direction. This existing bridge is inadequate and structurally insufficient. The improvement will also provide adequate road capacity to accommodate regional population and employment growth. The project is being done by MCDOT and is in the design phase.

McKellips Road
Improve roadway with curb, gutter, sidewalk, raised median and other safety improvements to support regional traffic. The project is being done by MCDOT and is in the design phase.
