​We invite you to attend our inaugural Salt River Summer Speaker Series, a new event designed to spotlight Community voices, share knowledge, and engage the public in meaningful conversations about the past, present, and future.

Held on the last Tuesday of each month from June through September, the 2025 Summer Speaker Series, titled “Voices of Summer: Engaging Talks That Reflect Our Past, Shape Our Future,” is hosted by SRPMIC Assistant Community Manager Lena Jackson-Eckert, and will take place at the Salt River Council Chambers. Open to the public, all are welcome!


2025 Speaker Lineup:

  •  June 24 – SRPMIC Elders Panel: Reflections and stories from esteemed SRPMIC members Tom Largo, Delbert Ray, Pat Enos King, and Sharon Selestewa.
  • July 29 – Young River People’s Council Panel: Youth council members share their experiences as young leaders and their vision for the future.
  • August 26 – The Basics of Genealogy: A presentation by Katie Gertz, President of the Family History Society of Arizona, exploring the importance of family history and identity and tips and tricks to get started.
  • September 30 – Salt River Project, A Water Story: A presentation by Leslie Meyers, General Manager of Salt River Project, focused on the region’s water history and stewardship.
