State-of-the-art solid waste disposal and recycling facilities are provided to the SRPMIC, Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, and Tempe by the Salt River Landfill. The landfill has been praised for its environmental excellence and design, as well as for the employment opportunities it has offered the Community. The enterprise also includes the Material Recovery Facility for recycling, a gas collection system that sends landfill gas to a generating plant for power, and bioreactor technology for further power conversion.
