FAC Webinar: Trial by TikTok

FAC Webinar: Trial by TikTok – Deconstructing Pop Culture’s Role in Perpetuating Victim Blaming

Description: October is a Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Please join FAC’s awareness campaign as we welcome Lauryn Fjell From Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence as a presenter for this webinar.

This webinar explores how pop culture and social media often end up reinforcing victim blaming in cases of sexual and domestic violence. We will look at well-known examples – like the public reaction to the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial – to understand how tactics such as DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse, Victim, and Offender) are used to shape public opinion. We will also talk about how media sensationalism and social media algorithms can amplify harmful narratives.
