Never Forgotten
On May 24, 2014 at 3:05 am, Officer Jair A. Cabrera #201 was shot and killed in the line of duty while making a traffic stop near the intersection of Chaparral Road and Pima Road,
on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
An armed subject opened fire, striking Officer Cabrera before he exited his patrol car. Three suspects fled the scene on foot but were all eventually apprehended.
Officer Cabrera was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officer Cabrera was 37 years old and had served for seven years with the Salt River Police Department. He is survived by his parents, brother, and girlfriend. He will never be forgotten.

Never Forgotten
On January 08, 2019 at 6:04 pm, Officer Clayton Joel Townsend, Badge Number 307 was struck and killed by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on northbound State Route 101 just south of McDowell Road, on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
Officer Townsend was approaching the car he had stopped when another vehicle struck him and then struck the stopped vehicle. Officer Townsend was transported to Honor Health Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The distracted driver who struck Officer Townsend admitted to texting at the time of the crash, that driver was arrested and he was charged with vehicular manslaughter, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/dangerous instrument and endangerment.
Officer Townsend was 26 years old and proudly served almost 5 years with the Salt River Police Department. He is survived by his wife, 10 month old son, parents, two brothers and many more family and friends.
