The Salt River Police Department provides several special services to support Community Members, including vacation watch requests, firewood and firearm permits, civilian ride along request and officer requests for extra duty. Below you’ll find information and instructions on how to apply for or request these services.

Request to Participate in the Citizen Observer Ride-Along Program

The Salt River Police Department offers a Citizen Observer Ride Along Program to allow citizens the opportunity to observe and gain valuable insight into the duties and services of a Police Officer during regular patrol.

Who May Ride?

  • Any person 18 years of age or older may ride after signing a waiver of responsibility.
  • Juveniles 15 years of age or older may ride after obtaining permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Limitations On Riding

Citizens may not ride if one or more of the following applies:

  1. A prior felony conviction
  2. Conviction of a misdemeanor during the preceding 12 months, excluding traffic violations.
  3. Have a physical handicap, severely limiting the routine of the Officer
  4. Citizens are limited to two (2) ride-alongs in a six (6) month period.

Application Procedure

Completed and submit the online interest form. A clearance check will be made, and you will be contacted within five (05) business days upon review of your application of your ride along. Identification establishing age will be required. Refusal of inability to produce identification will be sufficient cause to deny the request.

Community Members may request extra patrol at their residence during a set timeframe.
