Permits & Special Requests | Salt River Police Department

The Salt River Police Department provides several special services to support Community Members, including vacation watch requests, firewood and firearm permits, and officer requests for extra duty. Below you’ll find information and instructions on how to apply for or request these services.

Request Vacation Watch

Community Members may request extra patrol at their residence during a set timeframe.

Request a Firewood Permit

Firewood permits are available to Community Members only.
A valid Driver’s License/State ID and Tribal ID are required.
Permits are valid for two (2) weeks.

Permits can be picked up and completed at the SRPD Administration front lobby during regular business hours.

Request a Firearm Permit

Applications for firearm permits may be picked up and completed at the SRPD Administration front lobby during regular business hours.

Request an Officer for Extra Duty

The Salt River Police Department allows Police Officers to be hired for “extra-duty” as temporary employment within the boundaries of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. This service may be requested for events, security, or other situations where a police presence is needed.

Important Information

Jurisdiction: Extra duty work can only be authorized within SRPMIC boundaries.
Emergency Activation: Officers are subject to recall at any time for emergencies.
Cancellations:
- Community may cancel at any time due to emergencies.
- Contractors must provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel, or a 3-hour fee per officer will be charged.
Minimum Hours:
- 3 hours per assignment (if no vehicle is needed).
- 4 hours per assignment (if a vehicle is required).
Late Requests: Must be made at least 48 hours in advance; fewer than 48 hours may be considered late.
Rates:
- Police Officer: $70/hour
- Supervisor (every four officers): $80/hour
- Lieutenant (every two supervisors): $90/hour
Payment: By check (payable to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community) or by VISA/MasterCard. If paying by card, call (480) 362-7720 to arrange.
